Nintendo is continuing to support Splatoon 2 with the regular SplatFest tournaments, this time focusing on the ever-so-popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the upcoming Nickelodeon series, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There will be several rounds where you can vote for your favorite martial arts reptile.

Nintendo announced that this is the first-ever tournament to involve the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, allowing gamers to choose who is their favorite between Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Leonardo. The partnership with Nickelodeon will take place over the course of three rounds in Splatoon 2.

The event will commence this weekend, on April 27th, requiring players to register in-game at the Inkopolis Square. From there, it will pit two turtles against each other, until a a winner is crowned during the final showdown. The first tournament will take place between May 4th and May 5th, pitting Raphael versus Leonardo, while the second round will take place between May 11th and May 12th, featuring Michelangelo versus Donatello, and the third round will take place between May 18th and May 19th to round out the tournament.

So, just to recap, the first round is Raphael versus Leonardo between May 4th, on Friday, starting at 9:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time and will end on May 5th, that Saturday, at 9:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. The second round will see voting taking place between Michelangelo and Donatello between May 11th, on Friday, starting at 9:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, and it will end on May 12th, that Saturday, at 9:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. The Splatoon 2 finals will determine who everyone's favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle is, which will commence on May 18th, on Friday, at 9:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, and will wrap up on May 19th, Saturday, at 9:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.

This is a different kind of take on the usual Splatfests, which usually only involve two things going head-to-head. Previously, Nintendo had players choosing between different super powers that they would prefer, including the age-old debate between flight and invisibility -- it really is a tough call because while flying is really cool you might end up with a lot of bugs in your teeth, and invisibility might require you to strip down, which could be embarrassing while you're out in public. Another Splatfest had gamers battling over ice cream and cake, while yet another had gamers battling over werewolves and vampires.

Winners of the Splatfest will be rewarded with Super Sea Snails, which can then be exchanged for customization items in Splatoon 2.

Since this particular tournament takes place over the course of three rounds, there will be Super Sea Snails handed out at the end of each round. Players will be encouraged to pick up the Super Sea Snails by that following Tuesday before the next round commences.

You can actually keep track of when the rounds stop and start with the Splatoon 2 app for iOS and Android devices, or you can regularly check in on the Splatfests web page to check the results of the different showdowns taking place.
