New Clone Wars Content Is Officially Coming To Star Wars Battlefront 2

Gamers constantly begged Electronic Arts and DICE for more content from the prequel Star Wars films, especially a lot of the content from Star Wars: Attack of The Clone. Well, after a lot of begging and pleading from the community, EA and DICE have listened and will be providing more Clone Wars content in Star Wars: Battlefront 2.

The news came during this year's EA Play event, where the official EA Star Wars Twitter account, tweeted out the news that in the coming months more content from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and the Clone Wars television show will be made available in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

There were some brief details dropped for the new content in the following tweets, along with a nice big profile photo of General Grievous, who was one of the main antagonists in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Additional info was also laid out in a missive for the future of Battlefront 2 over on the official EA website.

At the EA Play event, the DICE design director for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 came out on stage to talk about some of the new updates coming to the game, including the new squad system which will be designed to allow players to team up and join with friends. There's also going to be several new maps, and some new modes being added to the game as well.

The real meat and potatoes is that the Clone Wars content will actually include four new playable heroes and villains, including General Grievous, along with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Additionally, you'll be able to play Count Dooku and Anakin Skywalker as far as the heroes and villains are concerned. And while this sounds more like content from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, DICE made it known during the EA Play event that the content is actually themed around Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, as the largest map featured in the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 game will be an all new revamped version of Geonosis.

It's not made clear if Geonosis will feature the new mode where players will have to capture command posts and then blow up a capital ship, but it does sound like it might be one of the modes playable on the map.

One thing that the designer director at DICE repeatedly made clear was that he recognized that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 came out of the gate in a really rough state, a lot of it due to the fact that at the twelfth hour EA had to remove the loot box microtransaction system, which really upended how the game's progression system worked.

Since then the studio has been revamping the modes and the unlocks and the progression system in order to accommodate the expectations of players.

There's no solid release date on when the Clone Wars content will be made available in Star Wars: Battlefront 2, but it will arrive before 2018 is out.
