The Unbreakable And Split Crossover Movie Reveals Official Title And Four Stars

Unbreakable Split Glass Bruce Willis Samuel L Jackson James McAvoy Anya Taylor-Joy

Earlier this year, movie audiences received a nice cinematic shock when it was revealed that Split, the latest movie from writer/director M. Night Shyamalan, was actually a secret sequel to the 2000 hit Unbreakable. Walking out of the theater, the big question on everyone's mind was whether or not we would ever get to see a third film that would see all of the main characters collide. Today we can confirm that the answer is yes. The film will be called Glass, it will be out in a year and a half, and it will star James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and Anya Taylor-Joy.

The announcement was made by M. Night Shyamalan earlier today in a series of Tweets on his official page. The filmmaker has spent the last few months hinting that he was working on the Unbreakable/Split crossover movie, but today it has officially become a reality. More than that, the film already has producers and a distributor lined up, and Glass will be released in theaters on January 18, 2019.

At this stage there aren't any plot details available regarding what Glass will be about, but certainly we can expect a clashing of heroes and villains. Fighting for the good guys, you have David Dunn (Bruce Willis), an unbreakable man who is weakened by water, and Casey Cook (Anya Taylor Joy), a young woman who has a serious knack for survival. Presumably together, they will be facing off against Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson), a sociopath/terrorist with incredibly fragile bones; and Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy), a man with Dissociative Identity Disorder who has managed to turn himself into something more than human, known as The Beast.

It is rather amazing how fast this project is coming together. Doing some math, you may have noticed that M. Night Shyamalan waited a full 17 years before unleashing what can be called Unbreakable 2 thanks to its twist ending. That being said, Split also happened to make $274 million globally on a $9 million budget, so there certainly is incentive for the writer/director to immediately go back to that well. With the release date now positioned a little more than a year and a half from now, development is going to go quick, so stay tuned for more news about this project.

There's obviously a lot to process with all of this news - so what are you thinking? Do you like the title Glass? (it certainly does fit with Unbreakable and Split as part of a trilogy) Are you excited that it is coming out so soon, or do you wish M. Night Shyamalan was taking a bit more time with it? How do you think the plot of the film is going to come together with the four main principals involved? Hit the comments below with your thoughts, and be on the lookout for more information.
