Ben Affleck’s New Justice League Comments Will Get Fans Very Excited For The DCEU’s Future

Ben Affleck Justice League

Get ready, comic book fans. The DCEU will change in some fundamental ways when Justice League debuts, and most of us nerds are on the edges of our seats to find out if those changes will be for better or for worse. Justice League's extensive reshoots have created a certain degree of unease about the highly anticipated Warner Bros. production, but Batman himself recently came out and admitted that DC has apparently started to find its footing as a dominant force in the comic book movie genre. Specifically, Ben Affleck said:

This is a really nice time to work in DC. They're hitting their stride. They're getting it right. It's starting to feel like it's really working.

It's comforting to know that Ben Affleck seems willing to acknowledge that the DCEU hasn't worked at every turn so far. We're coming off of an unquestionable success with the release of Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman earlier this summer, but Man of Steel, last year's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad all polarized critics and audiences upon their respective releases. However, even in the face of some misfires, everyone involved (Affleck included) seems to recognize the need for change (particularly in terms of leaning more towards Wonder Woman's tone and style), and Justice League could represent a substantial step in the right direction. If we're lucky, Sad Affleck will soon be a thing of the past.

With regards to fan concerns over two filmmakers working on the same movie, Ben Affleck reassures us that Justice League may showcase the best sensibilities of each director. The actor continued in his chat with EW and explained that Joss Whedon and Zack Snyder's influences have actually created a synergy for the film, saying:

[Justice League is] an interesting product of two directors, both with kind of unique visions, both with really strong takes. I've never had that experience before making a movie. I have to say, I really love working with Zack, and I really love the stuff we've done with Joss.

If you've kept up on this topic, then you already know there are plenty of reasons to get excited about what Justice League may have in store. According to recent reports, Joss Whedon's biggest contributions to the Justice League reshoots have been story-related, as he has helped punch up dialogue and smooth out the basic beats of the story. That leaves the action sequences directed by Zack Snyder, which are apparently going to remain intact with minimal changes. When you combine Whedon's knack for character-driven story and Snyder's ability to deliver a grand spectacle, it becomes fairly clear that Justice League may turn out far better than any of us ever expected a few months ago.

If we're to take Ben Affleck at his word, it sounds like we really need to start preparing for the awesome superhero adventure that Justice League will become. The film will debut later this year on November 17.
