New Avengers: Infinity War Art Features A Bearded Captain America And More

Update: The concept art in question was originally uploaded by an artist. It has since been pulled, probably because it was too damn awesome. You can read the entire article, minus the pictures, below...

When Avengers: Infinity War finally arrives next summer we're going to see all of our favorite heroes in one place. However, based on some new art, it looks like they're going to look very different than how we're used to seeing them. A Disney artist recently showed off some art he has created based around the next Avengers movie and it includes a Captain America that appears to have sworn off razors and a Spider-Man who has reconsidered that suit Tony Stark offered him. Check it out.

While Disney artist Steve Cas didn't go into details on his image about exactly what this art is for, he said the image is something he's working on specifically for the upcoming movie. This isn't concept art that was created prior to filming about what the characters might look like, so it's possible that this is very much what the Marvel heroes will really look like in Avengers: Infinity War.

The bearded Captain America is an unsurprising image as growing a beard is pretty much universal movie shorthand for "I'm retired." Whatever Steve Rogers has been doing since the events of Captain America: Civil War, he likely hasn't been Captain America. Although he is seen here in his traditional costume, so if we take this image has a sign, we won't have to wait for Avengers 4 to see the return of Captain America.

The other big change in the picture is Spider-Man dressed in the outfit that he turned down at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Also, not necessarily a big surprise. We didn't really think they were going to introduce a brand new costume and then never actually use it. Whenever Peter Parker gets called in by the Avengers to help out, he'll likely be handed the new suit, likely based off of the comic books Iron Spider costume, once again.

We also see the adolescent Groot from the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Rocket, Iron Man and Star-Lord, who look, for the most part, unchanged from their previous looks.

A previously shared image actually showed a different version of this image. The one above put the characters in front of the Avengers logo. The other put the same figures in front of an image of Thanos' face. We also saw a piece of paper on Cas' desk which showed a mockup of an Avengers t-shirt; it's possible this art was being designed for planned Infinity War merchandise. We'll let you know as soon as more info is available. In the meantime, Avengers: Infinity War drops in 2018; take a look at what we know about what's coming.
