When And Where The Earlier Marvel Movies Are Coming Back To Theaters

The Avengers

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become so big that you'd be forgiven for forgetting a lot of what has already happened. Luckily, fans will have a chance to catch up on the big screen. Cinemark Theaters have announced a week's worth of Marvel movies that will all be shown in the company's XD large format, similar to IMAX. The films will be shown in a series of mini-marathons that share a theme. Check out the list below for the dates and the list of movies attached to each theme.

August 25: Origins - Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, Doctor StrangeAugust 26: Cosmic - Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, The Avengers, Doctor StrangeAugust 27: Fan Favorites - Iron Man, The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: Civil WarAugust 28: Cap's Best Of - Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil WarAugust 29: First Avengers - Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, The Avengers, Iron ManAugust 30: Team Ups - Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: Civil War, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of UltronAugust 31: Guardians Day - Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Not every Cinemark theater will be running the marathon so be sure to check out their site for a complete list of participating theaters. About 30 states have at least one theater running the films so there's a good chance that one near you will have the movies. Even better, tickets to the movies are only $5 a piece, which is one hell of a deal for the XD format which, similar to 3D showings, usually sees a price increase over standard movie tickets. Tickets appear to be available for individual showings only, not for each marathon, though that's likely a good deal as several MCU movies will be seen more than once over the course of the week, so you won't be forced to buy tickets to the same movie twice.

Avengers will be shown five separate times during the seven day period, while the original Guardians of the Galaxy will be seen four times. You'll have to actually work to avoid those films. On the other side of the spectrum, however, there are a couple of movies that are only being shown once. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will only be viewable during the Captain America specific marathon, while Avengers: Age of Ultron, can only be seen as part of the series spotlighting team ups.

While the Marvel Studios week doesn't include every Marvel movie released so far, there probably won't be too many complaints. The only films missing entirely are the ones that don't tend to make many peoples' list of favorites. There's no Incredible Hulk or Iron Man 2 or Thor: The Dark World. While it might have been nice for completionist reason to fit in at least one showing of those, only the most die hard Marvel fan is going to miss them. They certainly could have given Iron Man his own day like they did Captain America, but apparently, it was not to be.
