First Look At Evangeline Lilly In The Wasp Costume

We still have a little less than a year before we actually get to see Peyton Reed's Ant-Man And The Wasp up on the big screen, but today we have received a special early treat. In honor of what would have been Marvel Comics legend Jack Kirby's 100th birthday, actress Evangeline Lilly has shared our first look at Hope van Dyne as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's The Wasp!

Evangeline Lilly shared this image via her personal Twitter account, and it's a wonderful look. The costume doesn't exactly look identical to the suit that was shown during the end credits of the first Ant-Man back in 2015, but we can't wait to see the actress spread her wings and fly in the thing

Let's address the elephant in the room: how come she doesn't have the suit that was shown to her in the final scenes of the original Ant-Man? Is Hope Van Dyne (Lilly) not using the same suit that her mother, Janet (who we now know will be played by Michelle Pfeiffer), wore on secret missions alongside her husband, Hank Pym, for emotional reasons? This suit looks a little more armored and ... X-Men-ish than the vibrant suit with the delicate wings that Peyton Reed dropped into the finale of his first Ant-Man movie. Remember this great scene?

Peyton Reed and his cast currently are in Atlanta filming the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the cast looks as high-profile as any standalone Marvel movie. In addition to return leads Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, Ant-Man and the Wasp adds Michelle Pfeiffer to co-star alongside Michael Douglas, forming the mighty Marvel power couple of Hanky Pym and Janet van Dyne. But that's not all. During the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con, it was confirmed that Laurence Fishburne was joining the MCU as Dr. Bill Foster (also known as Goliath), while Walton Goggins was signing on as Sonny Burch. He has to be a villain, right?

Ant-Man and the Wasp has an extremely interesting release date, in the grand scheme of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. With an opening slot of July 6, 2018, this movie will be the first Marvel movie to land in theaters after Avengers: Infinity War. Will there be anything left of the MCU once Thanos (Josh Brolin) has his way with our beloved heroes? How will Ant-Man and the Wasp address what happened on our planet DURING the Infinity War. Is it truly going to be a separate story? Will a large chunk of it be set in the past, filling in the back story of Hank and Janet? We have a while until we find out, but this is how us Marvel geeks pass the time.
