Here’s Jason Momoa’s Blunt Reaction To The Bad Justice League Reactions

Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry

Last weekend was a particularly exciting one for hardcore DC fans. Because after waiting for years, Zack Snyder's Justice League finally arrived in theaters, uniting the DC trinity with newcomers The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman. The latter was played by Game of Thrones alum Jason Momoa, who made the Atlantean King more badass than we'd ever seen before. But reception has been fairly mixed for the blockbuster, with many criticizing Joss Whedon's handling of the film and reshoots, which resulted in a somewhat disjointed final product. Momoa has since responded to the criticism, and he didn't hold back. He recently said,

I try to stay the fuck away from what people say. Some of my friends said, 'Justice League isn't doing well' and it kind of bummed me out. But I didn't want to look it up. I don't want to look up the bad and the negativity. I don't think that's useful; it doesn't help.

It looks like Khal Drogo isn't too fond of checking reviews. Instead, he's rather just focus on his work in Justice League, and allow audiences to make their own judgements. Since he's just an actor and not a producer or director in the film, it's not like he had all that control over the finished product. All Momoa could do was bring Arthur Curry to life, and he did that well.

It truly does seem like Jason Momoa and the rest of the cast of Justice League is happy with the film, despite some of the mixed reviews. The titular group of heroes has been making press rounds for months, and they each seem very passionate about their respective character. Momoa has already seen the film more than once, and is planning on checking himself out on the big screen again. But he's making sure to go with good company- friends and family who will be more positive. He told EW,

I've seen [Justice League] twice. I loved it the second time even more. I'm actually going to watch it again with my kids and my godchild. I'm going to see it with the perfect crowd of people --- a regular crowd instead of at a premiere. So I'm excited. You can't get into the whole 'why this, why that.' I went to [Wizard World Austin fan convention] this weekend and got great praise. Now obviously, that's a positive place, and I'm not only interested in the positive. But if people love what we did with Aquaman, it's all [director Zack Snyder] --- it's his brainchild. He came in with, 'I'm going to make Aquaman a badass and I'm going to change stuff, and change the myths about this guy.' And I busted my ass.

While Jason Momoa seems to have the right attitude, his character definitely felt like it got cut down quite a bit. Aquaman randomly shows up at the bar with Bruce Wayne without an introduction, and a ton of material from the Atlantis scenes were cut as well. Luckily, Momoa will have the chance to shine when James Wan's Aquaman hits theaters in 2018.
