Where We'll See The Avengers After Phase 3, According To Kevin Feige

Avengers

Given how many YouTube views there are for the Avengers: Infinity War trailer, people are really obsessed with the latest Avengers movie. The superhero group will ascend to new heights, tackling a cosmic-scale conflict against the planet-conquering Thanos where the very fabric of reality is on the line. Suffice to say Marvel is going big on this one, which leads some to wonder where do the Avengers go after saving all of time and space. Kevin Feige isn't going to share that, but he did recently drop the detail that he wants the Avengers to stay cosmic in Phase 4. According to Feige...

If the Avengers survive, we will see more films with them in space.

The MCU has grown so much over the last few years, going from a mostly Earth-bound setting to exploring magical dimensions and the far reaches of the cosmos. Films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Ragnarok expands the cosmic universe of the MCU, revealing all-new fantastical locations and mythology. Considering just how popular and fun those films are, the Avengers franchise will also be turning its eyes to the stars, but before they can do that, they still need to live through Phase 3.

Earth has gotten too small for the Avengers. Kevin Feige appeared at the CCXP Marvel panel where he told the crowd in attendance (via ComicBook) that if the Avengers survive Avengers: Infinity War, audiences will see more films with those characters in outer space. We can only hazard to guess what they'll be doing out there, but Marvel Comics has no shortage of cosmic storylines left to adapt for live-action. Marvel has been developing a Marvel Cosmic Universe with help from James Gunn, so the Avengers will have some part to play. Now, we just have to go back to agonizing over who's going to die in Infinity War and Avengers 4.

Phase 4 is still a massive mystery to everybody outside of the offices of Marvel Studios. Apparently, Marvel has 20 movie ideas lined up to take us through the next few decades so Phase 4 won't be short on content at the very least. That number might skyrocket if the Disney/Fox deal goes through, giving Marvel Studios access to the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises.

However, we still have to make it through Phase 3 before we can worry about the future. Avengers: Infinity War, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, is the biggest Marvel movie to date, featuring dozens of characters from across the MCU coming together to prevent the Mad Titan Thanos from acquiring all of the Infinity Stones. The movie is all set to light nerd brains on fire on May 4, 2018. That's still far away, so learn everything you can about the movie with our Everything You Need To Know guide about Avengers: Infinity War.
