Avengers: Infinity War's Karen Gillan Can Finally Take A Break From All The Blue Makeup

The filming of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 back-to-back has meant that many of the members of the MCU family have spent the better part of the last year filming as these characters, something that's a bit more involved for some actors than others. Karen Gillan, as an example, has to be transformed into Nebula via significant makeup, and while she luckily didn't have to spend the last year bald, she still seems to be glad she can now be done with blue paint for a while, as she's officially wrapped her work on the pair of Marvel films.

Karen Gillan posted to Instagram to announce that she had officially wrapped filming on the two Avengers movies, and showed off a sweet Avengers bracelet that she received as a thank you from the directing team of the Russo brothers. She'll be spending the first few days of her new free time cleaning off all the blue paint she says gets stuck under her fingernails. Luckily, it would appear that her painted nails hide the paint so she doesn't look like she has some terrible nail fungus turning her fingers blue.

Karen Gillan has spent an awful lot of time blue recently as prior to beginning her work on the Avengers movies she had to film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so she's actually made three films in fairly short order that required the extensive makeup work. Luckily, advances in effects that have taken place in recent years meant that Gillan didn't have to go to the extreme that she did for the first Guardians movie of actually shaving her head to play the bald-headed Nebula. That would have made doing any other work over the last couple years quite difficult as she would have needed wigs to make any other film in between Marvel projects.

We've seen a few other actors announce that they have also recently fulfilled their responsibilities to the two Avengers films. it seems that the long process of wrapping up the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is almost done. All that's left is post-production on the final film before its May 2019 release date.

It remains to be seen just how important Nebula will be to the two films. The character is absolutely vital to the comic book series that Avengers: Infinity War is based on, though the MCU version will certainly not be a direct page-to-screen adaptation. Still, the daughter of Thanos is sure to play a role in dealing with her father. We'll get to see the first part of how before too long, as Avengers: Infinity War is now less than four months away. Get ready for the beginning of the end on May 4.
