It's been almost a month, so this probably isn't necessary, but if you still have somehow not seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi, then minor spoilers follow.
The newest Star Wars films can be credited with adding a lot of new and exciting stuff to the Star Wars universe, but maybe its biggest gift to fans was the highly charismatic characters to ship together. Thanks to actors like Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac producing charm like it's sweat, every character has chemistry with every other character. Sure, we've got Rey X Finn and Rey X Kylo Ren, but arguably the most popular is the ship between Finn and Poe Dameron. Its biggest fan might just be Oscar Isaac, who found it mighty hard to watch Finn kiss someone else in Star: Wars: The Last Jedi.
Look, it was a little difficult to see my man kiss somebody else, but, you know, you gotta give up control... you got to watch some stuff you don't want to watch sometimes.
In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Finn (John Boyega) spends most of the movie sharing the screen with Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) on a side adventure of their own. It eventually leads to a little kiss between the two of them, much to the chagrin of Oscar Isaac. His character Poe Dameron and Finn have been shipped together by fans since Star Wars: The Force Awakens, mostly because of their instant chemistry together. Many fans wondered if Disney would hear their voices and set up a legitimate romance between the two men for The Last Jedi, and while that wasn't the case (for now), Oscar Isaac is still having fun with the concept.
After a screening of Star Wars: The Last Jedi for the BAFTA Awards, director Rian Johnson and the cast attended a Q and A. During the panel, Oscar Isaac was asked about how Johnson works to create intimacy between the cast despite the perceptions that a blockbuster of this size must have a machine-like process. Isaac went into an anecdote about working closely on scenes with Carrie Fisher and Johnson, and then, mostly unprompted, brought up having to watch his man kiss someone else in the movie.
While the fan community has definitely placed its vote on Finn X Poe, the cast of Star Wars is largely behind it as well. Both Oscar Isaac and John Boyega have said they'd be down for a relationship between their characters, while other cast members have also voiced their approval. Whether an LGBT relationship will happen in a Star Wars movie, though, is ultimately up to the higher-ups.
Will Finn and Poe ever share that tender moment in a movie? Only time will tell, but stay tuned to CinemaBlend and we'll keep you updated with new Star Wars information as soon as it is available.
