The Surprise Marvel Characters We Spotted In The Deadpool 2 Trailer

Deadpool 2 X-Force

We always knew that David Leitch's Deadpool 2 was going to introduce some new major characters to the X-Men universe, as one of the first things we ever learned about the sequel is that it would include both Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). However, we never thought that the list was just going to end there, and the brand new trailer that was released this morning for the blockbuster confirms it. That's because there is one shot (specifically the one featured above) that seems to tell us that the movie will have parts for Marvel heroes G.W. Bridge and Shatterstar to play.

The moment comes about a minute and 39 seconds into the Deadpool 2 spot, and it looks as though our heroes are about to do some kind of skydiving mission dropping out of an airborne plane. It's hard to tell who it is that is standing in between Domino and Deadpool, but it certainly looks like Terry Crews is on the right dressed up as G.W. Bridge; and behind him (the actor unidentifiable) is someone who looks a hell of a lot like Shatterstar. But who exactly are these two? That's what we're here to go over!

G.W. Bridge Marvel Comics

G.W. Bridge

Like Deadpool, Domino, and Cable, G.W. Bridge is yet another creation of writer Fabian Nicieza and artist Rob Liefeld, introduced in the first ever issue of X-Force (though not actually a part of the team). He's not a mutant, meaning he doesn't have any kind of special abilities that he brings to the table, but he is a master strategist, and seasoned warrior. His backstory is tied in with Cable and Domino, as they previously were part of a mercenary group known as the Wild Pack (a name that would eventually change to Six Pack). He ultimately becomes a high-ranking member of S.H.I.E.L.D., however there's no way that element will be introduced in a 20th Century Fox film. Long story short, the guy is a badass fighter, and should certainly be a major asset in the field when called upon in Deadpool 2.

Shatterstar X-Force Marvel Comics

Shatterstar

The rough-around-the-edges Shatterstar first found his way into the pages of Marvel Comics just one issue after both Deadpool and Domino -- specifically in New Mutants #99 -- and was included as a key member of the X-Force team when it debuted shortly thereafter. Like Cable, he hails from a horrific future, but what makes him different is that he is from another dimension known as Mojoworld. He was not only born into slavery, but was genetically engineered to be a powerful fighter so that he could entertain audiences as a gladiator. He's basically hardwired for death and violence, outfitted with super strength, speed, senses, reflexes and intelligence, and also has powerful healing factor. His weapon of choice is the sword (which he often double-wields), and he's known to wear a white costume and headpiece -- which is obviously a big factor in what makes him recognizable in the trailer.

All of this currently stands as informed speculation, as neither 20th Century Fox nor the filmmakers have specifically identified these new characters yet -- but the evidence is solid and exciting. Hopefully we'll get to see more of G.W. Bridge and Shatterstar as the marketing campaign for Deadpool 2 continues, leading up to the film's release on May 18th.
