Thor: Ragnarok's Taika Waititi Has Ideas For A Marvel Movie Starring Vision

Vision in Civil War

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an ever expanding place. We're currently in the midst of the shared universe's Phase Three, which has brought critical and financial success with each blockbuster. 10 years of movies will come to ahead when Avengers 4 completes the current phase of movies. Aside from Spider-Man: Homecoming's sequel, not much is known about the future of the MCU, leaving the possibilities open for all types of solo films. While it looks like the studio may finally make a Black Widow movie, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi actually has an idea for a film about Paul Bettany's Vision. He recently discussed to his passion for the supporting character, saying:

Apart from Korg, I would love to see Vision. How about Vision, how about a documentary? A mockumentary? Like a What We Do In The Shadows meets Vision movie. See what he gets up to, you know what his day-to-day life [is]. What's it's like for him in his downtime. I know a little bit because he was cooking for Scarlet Witch in Ultron. So, sometimes he likes to cook. But what else does he like to do?

While Taika Waititi is utilizing his signature wit and sense of humor, the director does make some solid points. Vision is a character that hasn't gotten a ton of screen time thus far, playing a supporting role in both Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. So a solo movie could really help expand the character, and let audiences see more of the android.

Of course, Taika Waititi also says that his first choice for a non-Thor superhero would be his own: Korg. Korg made his debut in Thor: Ragnarok, as a hilarious side character and eventual ally of the God of Thunder. The rock alien stole plenty of laughs throughout the threequel's runtime, and ended up surviving the battle against Hela. It's unclear of Korg will pop up in Avengers: Infinity War, or how he'll be written off. After all, he was on the ship during Ragnarok's big post credits scene.

The director also seemed to poke fun at the romantic plot line between Vision and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch. The MCU isn't chock full of love stories, so the chemistry shared between Vision and Wanda is a welcomed change. While Taika Waititi talks about Vision cooking in Age of Ultron, he's actually referring to when he attempted to make paprikash for the new Avenger in Civil War.

In his same conversation with ET, Taika Waititi also jokes that he'd love for Vision and Scarlet Witch to get their own Marvel rom-com. While in jest, it wouldn't be out of the question for the duo to get a team up movie in Phase Four. Provided they both survive the battle against Thanos, that is.

The next installment in the MCU is Black Panther, arriving on February 16th. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip tot he movies.
