It's a major week for comic book fans and cinephiles alike. Because after 10 years and 18 blockbusters, the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe will come to a head withAvengers: Infinity War. Captain America directors The Russo Brothers have the task of bringing the entire MCU's starring cast together, including introducing the Guardians of the Galaxy to the rest of the characters. This will mark the first time that James Gunn wasn't in charge of the titular team, although actor Chris Pratt did manage to speak with Gunn after he got to catch a screening of Avengers: Infinity War. Good news: he liked it. As Pratt tells it,

I trust him. He's got great taste and he's really difficult. He's not like complicated as a person but he's difficult to please as an artist. And he watched this movie and he was blown away. And he was, like, thinking about it for days. He texted me immediately and was like, 'Oh my god, dude, I'm so happy with the movie; I'm so proud of it.' So, I feel like the pressure's off.

It looks like James Gunn was not only happy with how his team of motley heroes were represented in the next Avengers movie, but he also seemed happy with the blockbuster in general. Considering how specific and refined Gunn's taste is within the MCU, this is surely high praise that will give fans a sense of relief.

Chris Pratt's comments to E! News are sure to get the fandom even more pumped for Infinity War's arrival. The blockbuster is perhaps the most ambitious movie in film history, combining basically every major character from the shared universe into an epic battle for survival. The chief concern for the movie is how The Russo Brothers will balance is bloated ensemble (and work around the macguffins that are the Infinity Stones), while also crafting emotional final stories for the shared universe's lead actors. The Guardians are perhaps the most unique heroes, and all eyes will be on how the Russos handle their arc.

From what we gather from the Infinity War trailers, it seems like Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy will enter the movie by finding Thor floating around in space. This brings the cosmic side of the MCU together before inevitably teaming up with the rest of the characters; we've seen Star-Lord working alongside the likes of Doctor Strange and Spider-Man in footage. Additionally, Nebula and Gamora have particularly high stakes given their father Thanos is the film's big bad. Nebula is on a quest to take him out, which may put her in particular danger.

All will be revealed when Avengers: Infinity War arrives on April 27th. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
