Watch Deadpool Crack Jokes About Ryan Reynolds On The Late Show

With Deadpool 2 right around the corner, the press circuit ride has begun for Ryan Reynolds. That said, rather than make the usual appearances and exchange pleasantries with late-night hosts, the smartass actor has instead opted to don the Deadpool persona and poke fun at himself in some truly delightful ways. In fact, Deadpool took the stage during a recent episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and he absolutely eviscerated Ryan Reynolds with some awesome jokes. Check out his appearance on the show, below:

You would almost feel bad if you didn't already know that it was actually Ryan Reynolds under that Deadpool mask. Taking the stage alongside Stephen Colbert, Deadpool had some kind things to say about Jamie Foxx and his "boyish charm," but then went after Ryan Reynolds -- going so far as to refer to him as a huge asshole and the "poor man's version of Ryan Reynolds," not to mention "the rich man's version of my most recent turd." Deadpool has always aimed at his real-life alter ego (the Green Lantern callout in the first film, anyone?), but this takes mean to an entirely new level for the character.

Of course, the jokes didn't stop there. After taking aim at Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool also poked fun at President Donald Trump, and then ended his appearance on the late-night show by fading away from existence -- a clear jab at the ending of Avengers: Infinity War, in which Thanos snaps his fingers and kills half of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Infinity Stones.

This appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert genuinely seems to cut to the core of what makes the Deadpool franchise so endlessly endearing. It's not just a great R-rated romp, it also features marketing stunts that few other superhero franchises can pull off. In fact, Colossus actor Stefan Kapicic recently drew comparisons between Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War to specifically note how Deadpool's marketing is unlike anything else in modern pop culture. Kapicic said:

I'm a huge fan of Infinity War, and I can't wait to see it. Then again, all the trailers are showing me something that I kind of expect. I get what I expect. But, in Deadpool, you always get so many more things with the trailer. There are new things in every trailer and everything that Ryan is doing [on social media]. That's why people are so excited about everything Deadpool does.

Deadpool 2 will debut in theaters this weekend on May 18. Make sure to catch the Merc with the Mouth's latest silver screen outing when the sequel finally bows, and check out our full review and our review roundup to see what the critical community has to say about it!
