The Russo Brothers Have Cleared Social Media Again, Except For One Post Meant For Ryan Reynolds

The invention of social media has led to some awesome and lighthearted online rivalries. One that has popped up in the superhero world is the fun antagonism between The Russos and Deadpool 2 star Ryan Reynolds over the course of the last couple of months. Now, the directors of Avengers: Infinity War have taken it to the next level by once again scrubbing all of their social media profiles, except for one tweet of The Infinity Gauntlet giving Ryan Reynolds the middle finger. It's just too good to delete. Like Ryan Reynolds, Joe and Anthony Russo cut their teeth in the world of comedy with TV series like Arrested Development, Community, and Happy Endings, and it most certainly shows. As of recently, the Marvel directors have scrubbed their entire social media presence with the exception of one single tweet calling out the man behind Wade Wilson's live-action persona, because of course they couldn't just leave without getting the last word. They have done this before, deleting all of their social media content near the release of Avengers: Infinity War, except for one post about Thanos, but this time they decided to have some fun at Reynolds' expense.

Of course, as some attentive fans already know, this shot of The Infinity Gauntlet was posted as a response to one of Ryan Reynolds' best smartass tweets. Specifically, Reynolds posted his own tweet trolling The Russos for the #ThanosDemandsYourSilence meme that they created during the final marketing push of Avengers: Infinity War to prevent spoilers from leaking online.

You can take a look at Ryan Reynolds' post, below, to see it for yourself.

We still don't know exactly why Joe and Anthony Russo decided to mostly ditch social media again, but one obvious reason for them to go dark would be the decision to hide any and all possible references to Avengers 4. They have played the final installment of Phase 3 incredibly close to the chest so far, and the removal of most of their social content seems like a solid way to continue that move. That said, despite their move to leave so much of their online content behind, they still can't let go of that awesome rivalry with Ryan Reynolds, and we're absolutely here for it. Now we just have to wait and see if Disney will allow Deadpool to cross over with The Avengers if/when the Disney purchase of 21st Century Fox goes through.

Despite this fun banter between The Russos and Ryan Reynolds, you can currently catch Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 in theaters right now!
