Chris Evans Had A Great Response About Captain America's Birthday

Chris Evans Captain America The Winter Soldier

Is there a superhero who embodies patriotism more than Captain America? It's hard to say, especially considering the fact that the word "America" is right there in his name. With that in mind, the 4th of July/Steve Rogers' birthday happened yesterday, and Cap actor Chris Evans took to social media to celebrate in the best way possible. Check out his post, below!

That's right, Captain America's birthday is July 4th, and in Marvel lore, he was born in 1918. The guy turned a full century old yesterday, and we have to admit that he looks pretty good for someone whose age is officially in the triple digits. The post also got quite a bit of attention from fans, as many have chimed in to voice their own appreciation for Evans, Rogers, and what they both mean to them.

It honestly makes perfect sense to see a character like Captain America have such an on-the-nose birthday in the Marvel universe, particularly when we examine the nature of the hero throughout his tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Captain America: The First Avenger was very much a love letter to the gung-ho, patriotic roots of the Star-Spangled Avenger, and even though Cap has become increasingly jaded in films like Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, he remains an idealist who embodies American values in a meaningful way. If any character could have a birthday on the 4th of July, then it would have to be the First Avenger.

Chris Evans' Twitter post shows that he clearly has quite a bit of love for the character, and it serves as a stark reminder that we need to enjoy him while we still can. Evans is set to hang up his red white and blue tights when Avengers 4 premieres next year, and many have begun to wonder how the character could ride off into the sunset, as well as who could possibly take over as Cap when he's gone. We still don't know what's going to happen a year from now, but it's always nice to see Chris Evans show some love to his Marvel hero.

As always, CinemaBlend will bring you any and all relevant updates related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and Cap) as new details are made available to us. You can currently catch Chris Evans as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Infinity War, and he will return to theaters next year when Avengers 4 premieres on May 3, 2019! Away from the Steve Rogers corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can also watch out for Ant-Man and The Wasp when Peyton Reed's movie debuts this weekend on July 6 and teams Scott Lang up with Hope van Dyne!
