The next Spider-Man movie is getting underway and while we expect the film is going to be extra secretive for Infinity War related reasons, we do now have an idea how the sequel will compare to the previous movie. Dan Lebental was the editor on Spider-Man: Homecoming and he'll be back in that chair for Spider-Man: Far From Home. I can't say much about the new Spider Man, but I will offer up that it will be both grander in scale and even funnier than the last one. The rest of the story will have to wait.
The grand scale isn't too surprising. One of the few things that we know about Spider-Man: Far From Home is that it will see Peter Parker travel to Europe. It will apparently see Peter going to Europe with friends on summer vacation, and if he's sightseeing, then he'll almost certainly be doing a lot of traveling around the continent. This means we could be seeing Spider-Man swinging between buildings in multiple countries, thus the increased scale that Dan Lebental mentions to The Hollywood Reporter.
Beyond simply the locations, however, it seems that Spider-Man: Far From Home will also be a funnier movie than its predecessor. This is good news, as the wall-crawler's quick wit has always been a key part of his character, and while Tom Holland's version of Spider-Man certainly has some good lines here and there, the fact that this Peter Parker is still very much learning how to be a hero has made him a bit less sure of himself and thus less likely to fire off cocky one-liners. However, following the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as a pair of Avengers movies, one can guess that we'll see a more confident Peter in Far From Home and therefore likely a funnier one.
The production of Spider-Man: Far From Home is certainly going to be tricky. Set for release just a couple months after Avengers 4, the film's mere existence confirms one piece of information Marvel would likely wish they could keep secret, that Spider-Man will, in fact, survive. We don't know much about what the future holds for Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spider-Man: Far From Home will be the official end of the current phase of the MCU, but to what degree it will launch the next phase, or be an epilogue to the current one, is unclear.
