Game Of Thrones Alum Pedro Pascal Is Seriously Psyched To Be In Wonder Woman 1984

Oberyn Martell

The DC Extended Universe is an interesting place. While full of beloved and iconic comic book characters, the majority of the films have been met with at least mild disdain, and poor critical reception. The one shining exception is Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman, which brought Diana Prince to the silver screen for the first time. A highly anticipated sequel is currently filming, titled Wonder Woman 1984. Another capsulated adventure in the past, the blockbuster will help bridge the gap between the events of Wonder Woman and her eventual appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While Gal Gadot and Chris Pine will be reprising their roles, there will also be some new characters. One of the mysterious newcomers will be played by Game of Thrones alum Pedro Pascal. Pascal recently spoke about joining the cast, saying:

I've worked with Patty Jenkins before. We did a pilot together and I had seen her films. Knowing each other, I think that may have helped. Timing. I don't know, you gotta ask them how the hell it happened.

It looks like Pedro Pascal's previous relationship with Patty Jenkins may have helped him land his mysterious role in Wonder Woman 1984. That, and the fact that he's been starring in high profile projects like Game of Thrones, Narcos, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Pedro Pascal's comments to Collider highlight how much of show business is about timing and previous relationships. Pascal is a very busy guy, especially playing a series regular on Netflix's Narcos. Shooting TV shows takes a very long time, so a scheduling conflict could have easily put the actor out of the running for Wonder Woman 1984. Luckily it all worked out, and Oberyn Martell will be joining the DCEU shortly.

Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman

Aside from Pedro Pascal, the other new cast member currently announced for Wonder Woman 1984 is Saturday Night Live alum Kristin Wiig. She'll be playing the iconic villain Barbara Minerva aka Cheetah. While it's unclear if Pedro Pascal will be more of a hero or villain, it would be great to see the two newcomers team up in the upcoming sequel. Unfortunately, it seems that Patty Jenkins and DC are keep details close to the chest. There are two blockbusters to release before Wonder Woman gets her second solo movie, so we may just have to be patient.

Wonder Woman 1984 will arrive in theaters on November 1, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
