Dave Bautista Isn't Sure He Wants To Work For Disney Anymore

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is powering through to Avengers 4 with some serious momentum, but Phase 4 is where things start to look odd. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 suffered a notable loss with the firing of James Gunn, creating a huge hole that fans are waiting to see filled. The move remove Gunn proved controversial for many, and now it seems that Drax actor Dave Bautista might not even want to work for Disney anymore as a result. During an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, Bautista explained:

There's a bit of an issue. It's a bittersweet conversation. No - it's a bitter, bitter conversation, because I'm not really happy with what they've done with James Gunn. They're putting the movie off. It's on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you, I don't know if I want to work for Disney... I've been very vocal about the way I feel. I'm not afraid to admit the way I feel.

Dave Bautista has not officially walked away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet. After all, Drax the Destroyer played a major role in Infinity War, and there's plenty of reason to believe that we could see him again in Avengers 4 as Phase 3 wraps up. That said, with a growing rift appearing between him and Disney over the James Gunn issue, it's entirely possible that he could opt to not return for the project. Bautista has been Gunn's biggest champion throughout this process (though the other Guardians actors have voiced their support as well), but this is the biggest sign of his perceived dissatisfactions we have seen thus far.

If Dave Bautista follows through with this and chooses not to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it could create a massive hole in the MCU going forward. Drax is a vital member of the Guardians of the Galaxy ensemble, and his proven comedic chops have made him one of the most reliable cast members in the entire MCU. It's arguably difficult to imagine what the MCU looks like without him in it -- particularly if the Guardians franchise moves forward, but we will have to wait and see what happens.

Only time will tell if Dave Bautista will return to the MCU for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 when cameras finally start to roll. Until we learn more, you can still catch the actor in Avengers: Infinity War, which is still in theaters, and you can head over to our movie premiere guide to read up on all of the other films that are lined up to hit the big screen in 2018!
