Deadpool And Fred Savage Sing Nickelback In New Once Upon A Deadpool Clip

Deadpool just took the stand for Nickelback in a passionate defense of the Canadian rock band. Once Upon a Deadpool opens this Wednesday, and a new clip features (fellow Canadian!) Ryan Reynolds schooling Fred Savage on the merits of Nickelback.

The clip is a continuation of Fred Savage's savage Fox slam from the official trailer: "It's like if the Beatles were produced by Nickelback..." From there, Deadpool -- sick of all the Nickelback hating (if not the Fox hating) -- lays down some truth, and convinces Savage enough that they both start rocking out to "How You Remind Me." Watch it play out:

Respect The Back, as he tweets. But are all of those "facts" correct? Seems so. Ryan Reynolds and company probably grabbed them from Nickelback's Wikipedia, which is as much time as anyone should spend looking up Nickelback honors.

Here are the "facts" Deadpool presents after Fred Savage blasts Nickelback as "Overproduced, formulaic ear garbage":

• 50 million albums worldwide• 11th bestselling musical act of all time• Billboard's most successful rock group of the last decade• 6 Grammy nominations• 12 Juno awards (those count)• 6 Billboard Music Awards• 2 American Music Awards• 1 People's Choice Award - Canadian• And a partridge in a fucking pear tree.

They also won two MTV Video Music Awards in 2002, but who's counting?

Good for Deadpool for countering the knee-jerk hate against Nickelback. And yet ... he kinda started a feud with Paddington. Way to take the road less-traveled, man.

Before this Nickelback clip, the latest Once Upon a Deadpool teaser had Fred Savage peppering Deadpool with rapid-fire questions: "Why PG-13?" "It's a family movie. Also money. Also Disney." Yes, Fox assets were recently acquired by Disney and we're looking forward to seeing how Deadpool and the otherX-Men Marvel characters are folded into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Once Upon a Deadpool also made headlines over the weekend for being the punchline of one fan's epic trolling. A guy on Twitter -- who refused to reveal his identity -- bought the domain names for Avengers: Endgame sites and redirected them to the official Fox site for Once Upon a Deadpool. Apparently that guy is not Ryan Reynolds, although it's definitely his style.

The PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 recruited the now grown Fred Savage for some meta riffs off The Princess Bride. It's inconceivable that fans won't enjoy it as much as the Deadpool creator himself.

In addition to Once Upon a Deadpool, here's what else is still playing in theaters in the few weeks left to 2018. And here's the long lineup ahead so far for 2019, including Ryan Reynolds' Pokémon: Detective Pikachu in May - not long after Avengers: Endgame opens.
