David Harbour Is Living His Best Life Taking Shots At Avengers: Endgame While Promoting Hellboy

The superhero movie genre is usually populated by offerings from Marvel and DC, but every now and then we get a project that hails from elsewhere. Next April, Dark Horse Comics is leaving its mark on the cinematic landscape through the Hellboy reboot, with the eponymous protagonist now being played by Stranger Things star David Harbour. The actor recently had some fun on social media by plugging Hellboy and simultaneously taking shots at fellow April release Avengers: Endgame.

Let's be honest with ourselves, between Hellboy and Avengers: Endgame, the latter will definitely be the bigger April release. Hell, if it performs anything like Avengers: Infinity War, it could become the biggest release of 2019. However, that doesn't mean that David Harbour can't poke fun at the competition, first by pointing out only half of the Avengers lineup is still around for Endgame and then noting that Endgame might as well be a May release.

David Harbour does have a point on the scheduling side of things. Until a few weeks ago, Avengers: Endgame was set to come out on May 3, 2019, and while it's now been moved to April 26, 2019, that only leaves it five days to have an impact on April, six if you count Thursday night previews. Hellboy, on the other hand, was moved from its January 11, 2019 spot to April 12, 2019 back in September, so it has a two-week head start on Endgame and feels more like an overall April movie. As for the reduced roster of heroes, well, Endgame is expected to find a way to bring back all those who were dusted by The Decimation.

David Harbour's Instagram post also highlighted some of what the new Hellboy movie has to offer, such as the main character's Right Hand of Doom to all sorts of magical creatures "from your nightmares" that Hellboy and his allies at the BPRD (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense) will have to fight. Although they are both adaptations of preexisting comic book material, Hellboy and Avengers: Endgame will definitely be far apart from each other tonally. For those of you into horror and fantasy, Hellboy might be worth checking out on the big screen.

Along with David Harbour, Hellboy's main cast includes Ian McShane as Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, Milla Jovovich as Nimue the Blood Queen, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan and Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio. The Descent's Neil Marshall is directing, and Mike Mignola (the creator of Hellboy), Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Aron Coleite worked on the script. The story is inspired by the Darkness Calls, The Wild Hunt, and The Storm and the Fury comic book story arcs.

Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more coverage on Hellboy in the coming months. In the meantime, feel free to browse through our 2019 release schedule to learn what other movies are coming out next year.
