The John Wick 3 Trailer Will Get You Ready For War

It's been nearly two full years since we last saw Keanu Reeves' John Wick leave a trail of bodies in his wake, but the highly-skilled assassin is now only four months away from returning to the big screen. Now on the run and being hunted down by those eager to collect the $14 million contract on his head, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum will see Mr. Wick fighting his way out of New York City, and we finally have our first look at how this latest round of bullet-riddled insanity will unfold thanks to the first trailer. Check it out!

John Wick: Chapter 2 ended with Keanu Reeves' semi-retired assassin breaking some of the sacred rules of the underworld that he called home. This meant he was to be cut loose and not only would he no longer have his support structure, every assassin in the world was going to be gunning for him to cash in on the price on his head.

Our trailer opens right where the last movie ended, with John Wick on the run, literally. Wick, and his dog, are running through the rain. He goes to Angelica Houston, a newcomer to the franchise, hoping that she can get him safely out of New York City. He's racing against the clock because he's been given a grace period before the bounty goes into effect and John is trying to do everything he can in that time to be ready for war.

From there, it's just all the John Wick action that we love. Guns, fists, swords, on motorcycles and even on horseback, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum promises to give us a satisfying conclusion to this story. The original John Wick has to be seen as one of the best pure action movies to come out of the west in a long time. The first sequel received similar reviews and also brought back the impressive action and worldbuilding that the original did so well.

John Wick does eventually make it out of New York as the final moments of the trailer show him walking through the desert before we're introduced to Halle Berry's character for the first time. Sofia appears to be as glad to see John as most people are, which is to say, not all that much.

The strains of "My Way" that are playing throughout the trailer are a nice touch. John Wick will certainly have to do things his way if he's going to survive. That will mean a lot of improvisational action sequences, strongly choreographed gunplay, and possibly a few over-the-top gadgets to polish things off.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum hits theaters on May 17, so stay tuned to CinemaBlend for continuing coverage. In the meantime, browse through our 2019 release schedule to learn what other movies are coming out this year.
