Why Falcon Will Be Crucial To Captain America In Civil War

At Disney’s D23 Expo the first footage from Captain America: Civil War dropped, and with it a bunch of mind-blowing action that has started to get fans even more excited for the upcoming feature. And with this first new footage, the film’s actors have started to open up giving more details on what to expect. After seeing the post-credits scene of Ant-Man, we know that Falcon, Captain America and Winter Soldier were going to play critical roles in the upcoming feature. But apparently, it is Falcon who is guiding this important storyline, based upon his strong relationship with Captain America, according to the actor's who portray them.

Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie were prompted on Winter Soldier’s role in Civil War following the debut of the first footage. Their response highlighted less of Winter Soldier’s role as it did to how important these three’s relationship will be, particularly the bond between Cap and Falcon. Mackie told MTV News:

The relationship between the three characters is more so a bond of kindred friendship. My respect for Cap helps me to help him find Bucky because I know how much that means to him, knowing where he's come from and everything and what he's gone through to this point. It's more so of an understanding and respect than it is three guys chumming around having a good time.

Falcon being one of the prime members of the New Avengers, we know that he is going to become a whole lot more important in the future of the franchise. But what makes this character even more crucial, is how much he looks out for, and respects his fellow Avenger, and Captain, Steve Rogers. It is because of their relationship that Bucky is even found. And it is because of this relationship that Falcon is most definitely Team Cap when it comes to picking sides in the Civil War. Chris Evans reiterated the depth of their relationship:

You've got to understand, Cap coming off the last movie, Falcon's the one guy - having known the least in terms of history - he actually trusts the most. There's a really nice kinship between these two characters and they do a really good job of picking up where we left off.

It’s going to be an interesting dichotomy come Captain America 3. Who knows what Cap and Falcon went through to find and capture Winter Soldier, and on top of that, as we saw in The Winter Soldier, Steve Rogers is not about to let go of his friend Bucky. Their childhood friendship means the world to him, and whether or not we are going to see a Winter Soldier closer to the old Bucky, we’ll have to wait and see, but along with Cap and Falcon’s blossoming friendship, there may be some jealousy abound. Bromance triangle!?

With how much Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie played up Falcon and Cap’s friendship, it is clearly crucial to the upcoming film. Will it be tested? Is this trust bulletproof? We’ll just have to wait and see. Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6, 2016.
