Mark Hamill Is Getting A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Luke in The Last Jedi

Mark Hamill is moving from Star Wars to a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On March 8th, the veteran actor and major voice talent best known for his iconic roles as Luke Skywalker and The Joker will be receiving the 2,630th star on the famous and popular Hollywood sidewalk. The ceremony is set to take place in front of the El Capitan Theatre. And, of course, he won't be alone. He'll be joined by a pair of familiar Star Wars alumni, as none other than Harrison Ford and George Lucas themselves will also make appearances to help emcee the special event that Thursday morning.

Variety reports that the ceremony will take place at 11:30 A.M. on 6834 Hollywood Boulevard. In addition to George Lucas and Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill will also be joined by Leron Gubler, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber Walk of Fame, during this ceremonious occasion. Here's the official statement released by Ana Martinez, the producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, to celebrate Hamill's proud achievement.

Star Wars fans will be over the moon that hearing their idol Mark Hamill is going to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We are proud to add this extraordinary actor on our historic Walk of Fame.

Mark Hamill becomes the second Star Wars actor to get his name cemented (literally) on the sunny California street. Ford received the same treatment back in 2003, around the time Hollywood Homicide was set to hit theaters. You are certainly forgiven if you forgot that movie exists; you are definitely not alone. Unfortunately, Carrie Fisher hasn't received the same treatment on the sunny street, even after she tragically passed near the end of 2016. When Fisher passed, however, fans banded together to provide a makeshift star for the fallen legend. Hopefully, though, a real one shouldn't be too far away.

In addition to his popular roles in several Star Wars and Batman properties, Mark Hamill has appeared in -- and lent his voice to --several different movies and shows, including General Hospital, The Flash, Ren & Stimpy, Hey Arnold, Superman, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, Scooby Doo, Justice League and many more. Most recently, Hamill was seen in the excellent (and sadly overlooked) Brigsby Bear and, of course, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He'll next be seen in the drama Con Man, which is set to be released later this year, and he'll be heard in the series Transformers: Power of the Primes and the video game Squadron 42.

Additionally, Hamill was also recently in the voice booth to provide his pipes to a variety of different animated series, including Avengers Assemble, Justice League Action and Trollhunters, to name only a few of his recent voice acting credits.

This news comes only a couple days after Mark Hamill was subject to a false death hoax spreading on the interwebs, which Hamill responded to in morosely humorous fashion on Twitter. Thankfully, Mark Hamill is currently alive and well, and his life and career will soon be celebrated in due fashion.
