These days, the actress is now focusing her attention on something more personal. In an emotional interview on Today while promoting this Friday's Ocean's 8, Bullock discussed the process of motherhood via adoption, and how it has changed her perspective on life. Since adopting 8-year-old Louis and 6-year-old Laila, Bullock has focused her efforts almost entirely on their lives and well-being. As she told Hoda Kotb in the confessional conversation, Sandra Bullock believes parenthood is unquestionably the most important part of her life, calling it her "purpose" at this point in her journey. In the sit-down conversation for Today, Sandra Bullock said her kids are, by and far, her central focus and her main priority, and that she tries to be there for them every single second she can be. She also explains that being a mother is much more important to her than being an actress, which is why she has appeared in fewer films in recent years. Ocean's 8 is her first movie since 2015's Our Brand is Crisis.
It's my kids. Everything is about them being okay, being in school, having what they need, their moments. I need to be there for every single moment they have. It's harder for me to leave them than I think it is for them when I leave. I don't leave that much and I don't work that much anymore either. I keep looking at them going, 'I got nothing but you'... So my priorities are my kids, my kids, my kids. My family. My family. That's it.
Now 53, Sandra Bullock claims she was in her early 40s when she felt the desire to become a mother. When Hurricane Katrina happened, Bullock believed that her child was there, struggling admit the extreme disaster. Something in her gut told the A-list actress that it was time to welcome a child into her luxurious life. She was told the perfect child would find her way to her, and the Gravity Oscar winner believes welcoming Louis in her life can be seen as inspiring and motivational in allowing other people to know that there is "no end game" and that there are thousands of children out there ready to be your child, if you welcome them into your heart -- as Sandra Bullock did nearly 10 years ago.
When it came to adopting Laila, Sandra Bullock believes it was another supernatural bond. The actress claims Louis Bullock predicted his mom would have a daughter soon, around the time Laila was born. Bullock believes Louis lead the way for Laila coming into their lives. As Sandra Bullock confessed in the interview, there was always the strong desire to become a mother; it was simply a matter of time. Now that she's a mother to two children she adores, the actress only wishes her own mother were here to watch her children grow stronger each day. Bullock's mom, Helga Meyer, died in 2000.
Ocean's 8 hit theaters this weekend. While motherhood is Sandra Bullock's main focus, the actress hasn't given up her day job. She'll also star in Netflix's Bird Box later this year with fellow Ocean's 8 star Sarah Paulson. That film is scheduled to hit the streaming site on December 21st.
