Cardi B Is Suing Ex-Manager For $15 Million

It looks like Cardi B is going to ring in the new year with court battles. As it is being reported this week, the "I Like It" rapper is in the midst of a legal dispute with her ex-manager, Shaft. And whoever ends up losing will need to pay up a whole bunch of money. Cardi B is currently countersuing Shaft for $15 million after the one-time manager tried to sue her for $10 million back in April. The manager and musician will duke it all out on March 12.

According to TMZ, Cardi B and Shaft have been at odds with each other for a little over a year now, and these ongoing legal battles are only going to get more intense before there's a peaceful resolution in store. Shaft originally claimed he helped make Cardi B into the superstar she is today, and when it came time to reap the benefits of those fortunes and fame, she cut him loose. He believes he is owed at least $10 million for everything he did for her.

Cardi B, meanwhile, sees the whole situation differently. As you would imagine, of course. The rap artist and reality TV star claims Shaft was way too involved. She believes his interest in Cardi B exceeded their work relationship. She reports that he was trying to handle everything and anything about her daily life. That includes her recently-concluded relationship with Offset, her ex-husband and the father of their baby child, Kulture. Cardi seems to believe Shaft got too intimate.

While the legal hassles were initially starting up this spring, they were delayed when Cardi B discovered she was pregnant. Everyone involved agreed to wait until the baby was born and at least a few months old. But now that Kulture is here, the legal team for Shaft believes it is time to take off the gloves and get into the court battle for good. And while Offset and Cardi B are done as a couple, there's a good chance he'll be involved in this argument too.

Now that Cardi B is bigger and more famous than ever, she should expect to deal with more headaches like this court argument in the future. When you're a celebrity and you get rich as hell, there are always people who are trying to get your money -- whether they need it, or deserve it, or not. That's just how it goes, and it sounds like Cardi B isn't looking to play nice when it comes time for her and Shaft to appear in court together to argue in 2019. When that moment arrives, we'll be sure to keep you posted on all the details and developments that'll arise between them right here at CinemaBlend.
