Jamie Lee Curtis Isn't Happy About The Fiji Water Girl

Jamie Lee Curtis Halloween (2018)

On Sunday, Kelleth Cuthbert, i.e. The Fiji Water Girl, made quite a splash at the Golden Globes. While the Canadian model was on hand to deliver Fiji water bottles to celebrities on the red carpet, she became a minor celebrity herself when she was constantly seen photobombing celebs during the evening's festivities. Sure enough, there are countless photos of Cuthbert standing behind celebrities, sometimes looking directly at the camera. It became such a common occurrence that people on the Internet noticed the trend and made it go viral. With that, another Internet celebrity was made.

While most people appear to be fairly amused by Fiji Water Girl's celebrity, there's one person in particular who isn't a fan: Jamie Lee Curtis. She recently posted an image from that night saying:

So, my husband, who doesn't look at a lot of show business news sites, just mentioned that I was on the CNN website. I specifically moved away from the blatant promotions by Fiji and Moet where young women with their trays filled with their wares stood near a designated camera. I knew why there was a photographer poised there and I moved away as I said out loud that I didn't want to be doing advertising for either. Clearly this angle shows that I moved from her being behind me and yet from the side it still happens. The sponsors of events need to get permission from people when they get them to take their picture next to products.

The quote came from Jamie Lee Curtis' Instagram. Curtis posted a picture of herself where she is seen next to Kelleth Cuthbert, who is on the side of the frame holding the aforementioned tray of sponsored water (side note: "sponsored water" is a very odd phrase to say.) As the Halloween actress admits, she was intentionally trying to avoid the young women promoting Fiji Water, because the former Activia spokesperson did not want to advertise for the companies on hand for the awards show. In fact, she intentionally framed herself away from these blue dress girls to avoid giving them any advertising.

And yet, Kelleth Cuthbert was sneaky, and she found a way to move into the frame with Jamie Lee Curtis -- the way she did for several celebrities that particular night. Based on her social media response, Curtis clearly wasn't happy about it. She says companies like Fiji Water should seek permission if they want to sell their products in front of the celebrities. By having women like Cuthbert sneak into photographs, the celebrities are unwittingly helping to promote a brand. While that didn't bother everyone last night, it definitely got under Curtis' skin. And she is not won over by Fiji Water Girl's charms.

You can't win everyone's affections. While Kelleth Cuthbert made a lot of fans this past weekend, she also earned the scorn of a few celebrities like Jamie Lee Curtis, who was not afraid to voice her frustrations. Turns out, not everyone likes being photobombed -- especially if you work for brands.
