SEAL Team Just Got Some Great News From CBS

SEAL Team

The 2017 fall TV season is officially underway and three weeks in, certain freshman shows are already getting some good news -- mostly from CBS. The network has already given a full season order to Young Sheldon, it's very creatively named spinoff of The Big Bang Theory. CBS must still be in a good mood because the network is also giving a full season order for another of its freshman shows. SEAL Team has been picked up for additional episodes and will now air 22 episodes.

Even though SEAL Team has only aired three of its originally planned 13 episodes, CBS is feeling good enough about the action drama is give it a full season order. SEAL Team premiered on Wednesday, September 27 and is ranked as Wednesday's No.1 most watched program in the ratings. The show has averaged 12.04 million viewers, and 2.0 in adults 18-49 and 2.9 in adults 25-54 with live + 3-day lift. Basically, it's doing well enough in its time slot that CBS wants to see more of SEAL Team.

SEAL Team follows an elite unit of Navy SEALS as they undergo dangerous training and missions, while also dealing with their personal lives. The show was created by Benjamin Cavell and stars David Boreanaz in his follow up from his long-running stint on Bones. The show also stars Max Thieriot, Jessica Paré, Neil Brown Jr., A. J. Buckley and Toni Trucks. The debut episode saw the team of SEALS dealing with the recent loss of one of their own.

Get ready for at least one full season of SEAL Team. The show has seemed to have gotten mostly average reviews from critics, but it's still pretty early in its run. It's possible that the show will find itself as it picks up more steam, as is often the case with new shows.

SEAL Team isn't the only freshman to experience a full season order so early in the game. CBS' Big Bang Theory spinoff, Young Sheldon, got a full season pickup just days after the series premiere. In case you couldn't guess from the title, the show follows a young Sheldon Cooper growing up in Texas and advancing to high school. The other freshman show to receive more episodes is The Good Doctor over on ABC. The new medical drama, which follows an autistic but highly skilled surgeon, experienced some nice ratings after its series debut, prompting ABC to place an order for more episodes.

SEAL Team airs new episodes on Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. To keep up to date on all the latest TV news and developments, be sure to stick with CinemaBlend and we'll keep you informed with new information as soon as it becomes available.
