MTV Fires Teen Mom 2 Star Over Homophobic Tweets

David Eason Teen Mom 2 MTV

All the stars of the Teen Mom franchise have faced some kind of drama in their lives since joining the show, but it's safe to say Teen Mom 2's Jenelle Evans holds the lion's share of that turmoil. Evans is sharing the hot water again after MTV fired her husband, David Eason, over a string of homophobic messages he posted to his Twitter account.

David Eason's social media account has since been suspended, but it didn't happen before fans of the series (and detractors) could screenshot his tweets in order to document his controversial opinions. Below is one such collection.

MTV's released an official statement claiming David Eason's remarks do not reflect the network, and it was noted its relationship with Eason has ended, with six-weeks of production still left to go in Teen Mom 2. The move means that David Eason will no longer be featured in future episodes of Teen Mom 2, which might be difficult since his pregnant wife still will be on the series. It's not like the show will have to stop filming Evans just because Eason can't be on the show anymore, though, and producers and editors can also chop Eason out of previously filmed scenes if that's what they decide to do.

Of course, MTV might not even have to worry about filming around David Eason just yet, as the network's relationship with Jenelle Evans has been rocky lately. People reported Evans threatened to exit the show earlier in Season 8 after an episode revealed the couple's marital troubles, and not long after that bombshell revelation, Evans publicly admitted to drug use during her pregnancy. MTV's removal of Eason might be its way of attempting to get Evans to exit all on her own, as it seems the drama never ends with the controversial cast member. Evans tried to resolve her Eason's situation even before MTV got involved by releasing a statement trying to defend him (via TMZ):

David didn't understand how offensive people would get or how Twitter even works. Now that he realizes his voice is very strong within media/tabloids, he has deactivated his account. He agrees he will keep his comments to himself from now on. David doesn't hate people from the LGBT community. My old manager was gay and used to be one of me and David's close friends. We attended Farrah's birthday in Miami with a lot of LGBT people there and he didn't act in any type of way. We went had a good time and left. We are sorry for the comments that were made.

David Eason isn't the first of Jenelle Evans' lovers to stir some controversy in the Teen Mom franchise, either. Just one month ago, her ex-boyfriend Kiefer Delp was arrested for running a meth lab. Teen Mom fans are more than familiar with Evans' personal run-ins with the law, and while MTV has tolerated those for the most part, the network couldn't let Eason's recent comments slide by.

Teen Mom 2 airs on MTV on Monday nights at 9:00 p.m. ET. For a list of other television shows worth checking out on television in 2018, head on over to our midseason premiere guide.
