The Punisher's Jon Bernthal Wants Two Classic Villains For Season 2

Barracuda Wilson Fisk Kingpin

Although he brutally murders his enemies, Frank Castle still has a pretty impressive gallery of recurring (and breathing) rogues. The Punisher Season 1 introduced us to Billy Russo, who will eventually go on to become Jigsaw, but there are plenty of other bad guys on everyone's wish lists as well. Jon Bernthal, in particular, wants to see the return of Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk in Punisher Season 2, as well as the introduction of fan-favorite baddie, Barracuda. When asked about the Marvel villains that he wants to see in The Punisher's second season, Bernthal quickly replied:

Barracuda. I'd like to see Barracuda. I'd really like to get back in with D'Onofrio, with Kingpin. You know what I mean? I mean, there's so many just twisted, twisted characters.

So, it looks like the man behind The Punisher's skull wants to have a go at two of Frank Castle's biggest enemies, literally. Between the two of them, a call for Kingpin arguably isn't that surprising. Wilson Fisk has become one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most beloved bad guys since making his debut on Daredevil in 2015, and Vincent D'Onofrio's chemistry with Jon Bernthal was undeniable during their brief encounters in Season 2 of Daredevil.

As for Barracuda, he's one of the most exciting and iconic bad guys in The Punisher's corner of the Marvel comic universe. An unrelentingly brutal mercenary with a sick sense of humor, Barracuda has had many battles with The Punisher over the years, and many of them ended with a piece of Barracuda's body being hacked off by Frank. Despite these frequent dismemberments, Barracuda consistently returns to wreak havoc on Frank's life, and he's unquestionably one of the most threatening bad guys in Punisher lore. So to get him in live-action here would be a huge thrill.

It's also worth mentioning that Barracuda is of interest to others as well. In fact, when The Punisher dropped last year, showrunner Steve Lightfoot said that he wants to incorporate Barracuda and Kathryn O'Brien (both of whom have roots in Garth Ennis' run on The Punisher) into a future season. None of this explicitly means that Barracuda or Kingpin will show up in future episodes of the show, but Jon Bernthal's enthusiasm during that Walker Stalker Cruise 2018 Q&A session go a long way towards making it a reality. Assuming Fisk lives through Daredevil Season 3, that is.
