It is impossible to argue that the resemblance is anything other than uncanny. What is it they say about everyone having a doppelganger? Well, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Hervé Renard's resemblance certainly adds evidence to the case. While the Twitter-sphere has been having great fun pointing out how much the actor and the coach look alike, as of this story's publication, the actor has yet to respond to it on his Twitter account. For his part, Gus Kenworthy did eventually respond to the internet's obsession with his likeness to Richard Madden. The skier posted a spot-on and hilarious response to the frenzy on his Twitter account. After his viral Tweet pointing out the resemblance between Hervé Renard and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau; Twitter user Musa Okwonga also pointed out the likeness between other Game of Thrones cast members and World Cup figures, including Stephen Dillane's Stannis Baratheon and Conleth Hill's Lord Varys.

While some, like Twitter user David Smith responded saying that they see a resemblance between Hervé Renard and Prince Charming from Shrek, another popular Twitter contingent. When the World Cup and Game of Thrones can collide, that is always a good thing. Is it a sign of how Game of Thrones is never too far away from fans' minds, even when they are watching the World Cup? Maybe. After all, both share a lot in common. For instance, both share a competition at their fore.

Game of Thrones is about Houses, which are pretty much teams, fighting each other to end up with their representative sitting on the Iron Throne. And the World Cup is about teams from all over the world competing to win its namesake.

Game of Thrones will return for its eighth and final season in 2019 on HBO. The World Cup continues until July 15. For new upcoming and returning television shows you can anticipate watching in the coming months, check out CinemaBlend's guide to TV's summer premieres.
