Stranger Things May Give Hopper Some Romance In Season 3

Hopper has been through quite a bit over two seasons of the Netflix supernatural hit Stranger Things, and, unfortunately, most of it has been very unpleasant. Of course, this doesn't even count what happened to the poor man before we picked up with his life on the show. Well, now, it sounds like the proud adoptive dad of a telekinetic teen might actually have some time for a little lovin' in Season 3. Here's what David Harbour, he of the loose lips when it comes to spoilers, had to say on Hopper's romantic potential for the upcoming season:

I think we'll start to see him take more risks with these new languages of intimacy and vulnerability and maybe we'll start to see that he has needs that he hasn't expressed before.

Oh my goodness, you guys. Hopper has...needs? Other than staying alive, keeping an inquisitive bunch of kids alive and figuring out how to keep an extradimensional world filled with hungry critters no one has ever seen before from taking over his small Indiana town? Well, OK! Way to go, Hopper!

In all seriousness, it's about time Hopper, and most of our Stranger Things favorites, get a bit of a break. Obviously, Season 3 will see all hell break loose at some point, but, until then, doesn't the man who's risked his life multiple times to help keep an entire town safe from things that go bump in the night deserve some sweetness? According to David Harbour, Hopper has finally learned to open up a little after losing his young daughter and marriage years ago, and this is likely due to his newfound connection with Eleven, not to mention his potential feelings for old friend Joyce.

So, we can expect Hopper to be a kinder, gentler and more openly vulnerable bear during Season 3 of Stranger Things, but David Harbour is quick to let us know, in his talk with TV Guide, that this doesn't necessarily mean that romantic goings will be easy for him. In fact, it sounds like his attempts at intimacy and lady lovin' might actually be kind of a shitshow, at least for a bit...

That's exciting to watch him open up in that way. Of course he's going to flail and be horrible at it too, which is always fun as well.

Oh, yes. Can't you already imagine how bad Hopper is going to be at trying to tell any woman that he's interested in her in more than a friendly way? And, in case you're wondering, we have no idea right now just who the lucky lady might be who has managed to attract Hopper's amorous attentions. When asked directly if Hopper is finally stepping up to the plate with everyone's favorite bug-eyed, stressed out and majorly determined single mom (a.k.a Joyce), Harbour demurred with a non-committal "I'll have to get back to you on that one," showing that he's finally learned his lesson about spilling all his Stranger Things knowledge to anyone who even looks at him twice.

Stranger Things Season 3, which takes place in 1985, will air sometime in 2019 on Netflix, so be sure to stay tuned to CinemaBlend for details on the new season as they become available to us. For more on what to watch in the meantime, check out our summer premiere schedule.
