When 2018 started off, Roseanne Barr was set to return to primetime in a gigantic way with ABC's Roseanne revival. By April, she was once again one of the biggest TV stars in the country. And now, she's once again a former TV star, after a Twitter rant got her fired at the network. But that's not keeping the conservative comedian off the air for good, as Barr is set to return to the small screen via Fox News for an exclusive primetime interview with Sean Hannity on his program Hannity. And it's coming soon, too: Thursday, July 26.
Roseanne Barr's live Hannity interview is set to take place at 9:00 p.m. ET on Thursday night. While we don't know the full range of topics she'll be discussing with Sean Hannity, Deadline reports she will be addressing the Valerie Jarrett-aimed tweet that provoked her ousting, and she will also be talking about President Donald Trump in some fashion.
Even though it's only a one-night interview, viewers will get two nights of enjoyment out of the chat, as Hannity's Friday night episode on July 27 will feature portions of the Roseanne Barr interview that weren't used in the original telecast. Live TV doesn't usually allow for a lot of cutting-room-floor footage, but perhaps these will be segments filmed during commercial breaks, or moments from after the TV airing itself.
The interview announcement is fairly surprising, given Roseanne Barr's somewhat recent mind-change about doing any post-scandal TV interviews. But then it's not so surprising that she will be making her next official television appearance on Fox News, as the conservative comedian is a firm supporter of President Donald Trump, who actually gave her a personal call about Roseanne's big ratings after the revival premiered.
Roseanne Barr hasn't exactly stayed out of the limelight even as she has stayed off of television. She has maintained her presence on Twitter after a brief hiatus, and has appeared on the podcast of her spiritual advisor, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. She also posted a YouTube video explanation for her previous Twitter actions, but it came a day after she posted a feverish clip where she was very visibly agitated and screaming at the camera over being mistaken about Valerie Jarrett's skin color. (Which is putting it lightly.) She has also started up a talk show of sorts on that same YouTube channel.
Hannity is definitely one of the key factors in Fox News' success over the years, and Sean Hannity's popularity is why he landed that interview with President Donald Trump during the latter's trip to North Korea in June. This Roseanne Barr interview likely won't bring in the same kind of numbers, but it's certainly possible, given how many people tuned into Roseanne for its single-season revival run.
