Outlander ended its third season on a cliffhanger that set the stage for a completely new set of adventures in the next batch of episodes. Many fans remembered all too well the hiatus between Seasons 2 and 3 that last more than a full year, and the prospect of another "Droughtlander" is not something anybody wanted to consider. The good news is that we were promised a shorter hiatus between Seasons 3 and 4, and we now finally know when the fourth season will premiere. Claire and Jamie will be back on the airwaves on Sunday, November 4.

Yes, the thirteen episodes of Season 4 will begin their run on Starz on November 4. We've known for a while that Outlander would be back in November at some point, and the reveal that it will premiere on the very first Sunday of the month is very good news for fans. We won't have to wait until the very end of the month to check back in with the time-traveling Claire and her very complicated family. Granted, November 4 is still more than a couple of months away, but the wait could be a lot longer. Given what we saw in the first trailer that hit the web in July, there's plenty for us to speculate about, even for those of us who have read the books that inspired the series!

In Season 4, Jamie and Claire will attempt to make a home for themselves in colonial America, choosing to make the most of their new circumstances after the shipwreck at the end of Season 3. They landed in the American colonies in the years before the American Revolution that Claire knows is on the way, and they'll find themselves in a culture torn between loyalty to the occupying Brits and the upcoming movement for independence. Unfortunately, Jamie and Claire will cross paths with a villain who could be even worse than Black Jack Randall, and we already know that a horrific rape scene from the books will be adapted for the show.

Just because Claire returned to the 18th century doesn't mean the 20th century action has come to an end. In the 1960s, Brianna and Roger continue their research to try and track Claire's actions all those years before, and they stumble across some information that makes them consider that perhaps they need to follow Claire back in time. Something tells me that Outlander Season 4 will deliver more reasons than ever to consider it the best show on TV, and not just because we're probably in for a revamped credits sequence!

Not everything will be different just because Claire and Jamie go to America, although Sam Heughan's comments make it clear that we're in for something new, including a bunch of new characters. The sex scenes viewers have come to expect will be back, and Jamie and Claire's inability to escape the redcoats no matter where they go will apparently still be going strong. To see what's in store, tune in to Starz on Sunday, November 4 at 8 p.m. ET for the Season 4 premiere of Outlander. Another two seasons are already in the works, so be sure to keep up on what happens. For more viewing options, swing by our fall TV schedule.
