Star Wars Resistance Timeline Apparently Revealed And Then Deleted By Disney

Kaz Star Wars Resistance Disney

Dave Filoni's upcoming animated series Star Wars Resistance was known to take place sometime between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, but the show's exact Star Wars franchise timeline hasn't been officially revealed. That said, the answer might have leaked out thanks to a synopsis found in some web coding that has seemingly now been deleted by Disney. Provided the synopsis is legit, it revealed Star Wars Resistance takes place right around six months before the events of _The Force Awakens: _

Set about six months before The Force Awakens, Star Wars Resistance tells the story of Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of The First Order.

The reveal, if accurate, has fans speculating on a lot of things that will and won't be seen in Star Wars Resistance. The six-month-previous timeline offers the more likely possibility of major characters to appear beyond those that have already been announced, which means the show could definitely show Finn or Rey before too long. It also means some other elements that Star Wars fans are hoping to see might be excluded. One would assume Ben Solo training as a Jedi probably will not be shown, considering he's well within The First Order as Kylo Ren in this stretch of time.

The alleged reveal has been met with disappointment by some Star Wars fans, who were hoping the series would fill a lot more of the gap between the old and new trilogies. That said, flashbacks are still a commonly used thing in television, and just because the series is supposedly set six months before Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn't mean story arcs that take place in the years before are out of the question. That said, Star Wars Resistance seems to focus primarily on rebel spies and The First Order, which could make flashbacks involving Kylo Ren or other characters very unlikely, especially since Dave Filoni isn't big on the storytelling tactic.

Fan speculation and worry like this may have been why Disney was holding off on making the timeline news public prior to the series airing, as well as why the info has been scrubbed from the site since it was first discovered. It's also possible that Disney yanked the synopsis circulating the web for other reasons, such as the information may be incorrect. The synopsis was hidden, after all, and while it wasn't done in the best possible manner, there may be a reason why fans weren't meant to see it beyond the fact that it's a spoiler. For example, the Star Wars Resistance synopsis could be the original concept the show was constructed around, but somewhere along the line, the writing time may have decided to make the timeline a little further out.

If that were the case, one would imagine changing a synopsis that isn't even live on the Star Wars Resistance webpage would be of little importance. Perhaps it was left untouched by those unaware that rabid Star Wars fans know no bounds when sniffing new information out. But it appeared as if someone at the company caught wind of fans figuring things out, and then decided to remove the synopsis from the website's coding, though the possible damage was already done. Unfortunately, the world may not know for a while, as Disney has not offered any official comment as to why the synopsis was deleted.

Star Wars Resistance fans can wrestle back and forth with which theory is more plausible, or they can stick to the things they already know is true about the upcoming animated series. Such as that Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono is a rebel spy sent to unearth the secrets behind the rising threat of The First Order, and he'll rub shoulders with some pretty big Star Wars characters. Finn and Rey aren't confirmed yet, but as previously mentioned Oscar Issac will portray Poe Dameron and Gwendoline Christie will voice Captain Phasma. So far all that information jives with the possible timeline, although with so little out there about the time between the old and new trilogy, who can really say?

Star Wars: Resistance kicks off on The Disney Channel with a one-hour premiere Sunday, October 7 at 10:00 p.m. ET. For more information on other upcoming television shows, visit our summer and fall premiere guides.
