One Power Character Will Be Used A Lot More In Season 6

Power has zero issues with shockingly killing off some of its biggest characters, so it's a wonder Ghost, Tasha and Tommy still walk amongst the living. The producers certainly had room to fill out other areas of the cast for Season 6, so they promoted longtime recurring actor Michael J. Ferguson to series regular, which means we'll be seeing 2-Bit get his hands dirty a lot more in Season 6. As well, Power added Arrow vet Cynthia Addai-Robinson as an all-new series regular.

Let's break down what we know so far about these updates. In the case of Michael J. Ferguson's 2-Bit, not much new information about the character can be gleaned from the announcement. But considering his relationship with Dre basically imploded in the Season 5 finale after Dre stated he'd planned on turning on Ghost and Tommy, 2-Bit will likely factor more heavily into the scheming and dealing going down seemingly around every corner.

Michael J. Ferguson has been part of the Power cast since the middle of Season 2, when he debuted in "Who You Are and Who You Want To Be." 2-Bit has shown up in 18 episodes total so far, and it's expected he'll be seen in the majority of Season 6's ten episodes. Fans better start hoping now that Power's producers aren't building 2-Bit up to fall just as hard in next year's episodes.

To date, Power is the only mainstream TV gig that Michael J. Ferguson has on his resume. So it's a testament to his performances and the character itself that Season 6 will be the biggest one yet for 2-Bit.

Meanwhile, the Starz drama is welcoming someone else who's new to Power's series regular status. Cynthia Addai-Robinson was cast as the new character Ramona Garrity. Understandably, there also isn't any super-expansive details telling us what to expect from Ramona. However, Deadline reports that the character is "a beltway insider with some secrets of her own."

Wait a minute, a Power lead who keeps secrets from everyone else? That sounds completely different from everyone else in this show. Or not.

Having got her TV start with small gigs on Law & Order spinoffs and more, Cynthia Addai-Robinson landed one of her first big breaks as Naevia on Spartacus, and later capitalized on that on Arrow while playing Amanda Waller. Most recently, she starred in the USA drama Shooter alongside Ryan Phillippe, but since that show got cancelled, she now has the time to join an even higher-rated cable drama.

While IMDb is rarely ultimate proof of anything happening in Hollywood, the site lists Episode 3 as being the first for Cyntha Addai-Robinson's Ramona Garrity. So it may not be necessary to expect her popping up right away.

Fans will be waiting to see what Season 6 has in store, with Starz not set to bring the crime drama back until 2019. Stay tuned for more info, and hit up our fall premiere schedules to see what's on the way.
