Big Little Lies' second season has not even premiered yet and hopes for Season 3 already abound. The good news for those wanting Season 3 is that one of the series' stars sounds open to it. In a new interview, Nicole Kidman discussed the potential of doing a third season, saying:

I think it would be hard to get the whole group together. But we would love to do it.

When you have stars as busy as the cast of Big Little Lies, it makes sense that scheduling a third season would be difficult. Of course, they managed to get everyone back together for a second installment. So it will be interesting. The good news is that what Nicole Kidman told Variety does not exclude the possibility.

Big Little Lies was initially planned as a limited series or one-shot. The first season was an adaptation of Liane Moriarty's novel of the same name. Following the critical success and viewer response to Season 1, a second season eventually came to fruition. This season added Meryl Streep. Nicole Kidman shared how she felt about working with the new addition to the cast, saying:

I was terrified. You're acting opposite the great one. I get nervous anyway --- but to be opposite her and not want her to think, 'Who is this amateur?' And also, we want to deliver a series for her that she's great in. Reese [Witherspoon] and I were like, 'We want this for her and for the other women.' They have much stronger roles in the second one.

Elsewhere in the interview, Nicole Kidman shared that Meryl Streep had not even read a script before signing on. Streep joins the second season of Big Little Lies as the mother-in-law of Kidman's Celeste. So expect lots of screen time between the critically acclaimed actresses.

Reese Witherspoon shared a still from the upcoming season featuring Meryl Streep's character interacting with Nicole Kidman's. In the picture, it appears that Celeste and her sons are spending some quality time with her deceased husband's mother. There does not seem to be any tension between the women in the picture. Is it an indication that some positive things lie ahead for Celeste in Season 2?

If there is a third season of Big Little Lies, it will be compelling to see if Meryl Streep returns. It is interesting to read Nicole Kidman talk about working with Streep. Having accomplished so much in her own career, and proven herself as such a remarkable talent, Kidman still remains ever humble about her abilities.

Before fans can anticipate a third season of the HBO hit, they still have the second to look forward to. It is one of the most highly anticipated returns of 2019. The season is expected to mark another awards windfall for its stars and the series as a whole.

With Meryl Streep on-board, all eyes will be on the series to see how it unfolds. The accolades the first season brought have undoubtedly added a lot of expectations. Time will tell if Big Little Lies Season 2 lives up to them.

Big Little Lies Season 2 will premiere at some point in 2019 on HBO. So you will have to get through this fall and possibly the midseason before it arrives. Albeit, there is still time for it to join the latter release window.
