Rupert Grint continues his jaunt into television with a new role, and it is an intriguing one. The actor has signed on to appear in M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming Apple series. It is not just any series though; it is a psychological thriller! The mystery deepens. So, who is he playing?

Without an official plot synopsis having been revealed, Rupert Grint's role is difficult to contextualize. Grint has signed to star as the younger brother of one of the lead characters, according to Deadline. They also say that the plot will revolve around a set of parents, Dorothy and Sean Turner. To help care for their newborn, the Turners hire a young nanny, Leanne.

Rupert Grint would be playing the younger brother of Dorothy, who will be portrayed by Six Feet Under's Lauren Ambrose. Nell Tiger Free, who played Game of Thrones' Myrcella, will star as the nanny, Leanne. Will this plot end up going the way of One Tree Hill's nanny Carrie storyline? You will have to wait and see. So far, it has the makings for it.

With the Apple series continuing to fill in casting, more info will hopefully follow suit. For now, Rupert Grint's role remains mostly a mystery. What will his "younger brother" character get up too? Well, in a story such as this, there are no shortage of possibilities.

While he will be taking a supporting role, he is in a good position to prove crucial. Rupert Grint's character is the brother of one of the main characters, brother-in-law to the other, and the uncle of the baby. So, he should be somewhat integral to the plot.

Considering the show is billed as a psychological thriller, there could potentially be a deranged nanny in play. Meaning, Rupert Grint's character could also be in jeopardy. Did anybody else get The Hand That Rocks the Cradle vibes? Exactly.

Whatever comes, this is an exciting project for Rupert Grint to take a role on. The TV show has already received a straight-to-series order, so there is no need to fear that you will not get to see it. M. Night Shyamalan is set to direct the first episode, and executive produce the overall series.

Apple has been in the game of getting some high-profile talent for roles in its series. Rupert Grint is the latest in a long line. Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon's upcoming series recently signed Steve Carell for his TV return as a series regular. Chris Evans and Jason Momoa are also set to make their Apple debuts in new shows.

In other good news relating to Rupert Grint's career, the Apple show is not the only television series Grint has coming up. The Harry Potter actor will star opposite John Malkovich in the miniseries adaptation of Agatha Christie's The ABC Murders. That should be an exciting pairing.

A release date for M. Night Shyamalan's Apple show has not been set yet, so stay tuned. Many other platforms will be airing new content this fall and throughout the midseason.
