The Arrow-verse Elseworlds Crossover Just Teased A Huge DC Comics Event in 2019

The Arrow-verse crossover "Elseworlds" has come to an end, and after weeks of speculation and last night's big tease, The CW confirmed it was planning one of DC Comics biggest events. What's even better is that it's not waiting long to pull the trigger on it either, as this monumental event is happening in 2019. That's right, next year the world will finally see a live-action adaptation of "Crisis On Infinite Earths."

The build-up to the moment was nothing short of spectacular, as Oliver received a call from Batwoman asking who John Deegan's new friend was. Oliver was oblivious, as the only thing he knew was that he had ruined Deegan's face after launching a kryptonite arrow into the Book of Destiny he was holding. The scene then switched to Arkham Asylum, where Deegan was being comforted by the villain who plays a vital part in the Crisis comic event, Psycho Pirate.

Comic book fans likely jumped out of their seats as he repeated his iconic line from the comics, "Worlds lived, worlds died. Nothing will ever be the same." Heads up, that's something he may say in the crossover as well, as Nora's updated newspaper featured the exact same line in its text. Does this mean that the event that Barry disappears in is indeed the planned 2019 crossover?

If so, it's possible The Flash and the other CW shows will be taking a jump forward into the year 2024. That is, unless the deal Oliver cut with The Monitor re-wrote history, and now the circumstances have changed as to when this threat will appear. Also, let's not forget time travel is a frequently used plot point in The Flash so it would be possible for Season 6 to take place both in the present day and 2024.

Obviously, a lot of what's in store could lie within whatever it was The Monitor and Oliver spoke about. Whatever deal the Green Arrow cut with The Monitor, it was enough for him to allow Oliver to finish off John Deegan, and let the rest of the heroes escape unscathed so that they could be ready for battle. Given The Monitor's massive power, it must've been super impressive.

The bottom line, it was enough for The Monitor to deem the core cast of heroes worthy for whatever threat comes. Unfortunately, plans may change by the time the big day arrives, as it appears Superman may be getting out of the game in order to protect his growing family. Hopefully the severity of the situation will convince the Man of Steel to suit up for the most important battle he could ever fight.

If not, the newspaper confirmed that plenty of other heroes, including the Legends of Tomorrow, may be a part of the action. Reverse Flash was also mentioned by name, so it would be safe to assume Eobard Thawne's recent appearance on The Flash isn't going to be his only appearance. Luckily, we only have a year or less before we know the answer!

The Arrow-verse will return to The CW in early 2019, and the "Crisis On Infinite Earths" crossover will arrive sometime that year as well. For a look at television happening before then, be sure to visit our fall and midseason premiere guides.
