The Bachelor’s Arie And Pregnant Lauren Just Got Married One Year After That Disastrous Finale

One of the biggest WTF TV moments of 2018 was The Bachelor Season 22 ending with Arie Luyendyk Jr. dumping fiancée Becca Kufrin for runner-up Lauren Burnham. Not only that, cameras captured Arie following -- basically stalking -- Becca around a house as she tried to get some space from him to cry and absorb the shock. Saturday Night Live even spoofed the drama. Arie then proposed to Lauren on the After the Final Rose special, making a normally romantic occasion rather awkward for everyone involved.

But ... congrats to Arie that he and Lauren are now married and expecting a baby girl!

Arie Luyendyk Jr., 37, and Lauren Burnham, 27, got married Saturday, January 12 in Hawaii. They've been sharing lovey photos on Instagram, and he gushed about the wedding to Us Weekly.

Ever since we've gotten together, we wanted to fast-forward to this day. It's been a year. That's kind of crazy 'cause I remember a year ago we were doing 'happy couples [weekend on The Bachelor]' and talking about getting married and wanting to do that, even last year, so it's awesome that the day is finally here.

Arie and Lauren have truly beaten the odds, at least to this point. It's possible The Bachelor fan skepticism has only bonded them further.

Arie was initially Emily Maynard's runner-up on The Bachelorette Season 8. He was a surprise choice for the 2017 Bachelor, since many fans were expecting (and hoping) for Peter Kraus of Rachel Lindsay's season of The Bachelorette.

Strangely enough, Arie is not the first Bachelor to dump his Chosen One for the runner-up. He's also not the first to then marry that runner-up. Jason Mesnick became The Most Hated Bachelor Ever in Season 13 back in 2009 when he dumped Melissa Rycroft for Molly Malaney. But now Jason and Molly are one of Bachelor Nation's most beloved couples, with a child of their own. Melissa also thrived after that experience, going on Dancing With the Stars (twice) and marrying her pre-Bachelor boyfriend.

Meanwhile, Becca Kufrin bounced back well by being named The Bachelorette for Season 14, which aired last year. She is still currently engaged to her Chosen One, Garrett Yrigoyen.

Now it's Colton Underwood's turn as The Bachelor in Season 23, which just started last Monday and continues every Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC. So far, the show seems to think his virginity is the most interesting thing about him, so we hear about it every two seconds. But Underwood did promise fans will get to know more about him than that.

If you don't care much about Colton, you can still watch The Bachelor to try and pick out which lucky lady will be named the next Bachelorette. Usually, the next person is chosen from the current crop of bachelorettes, depending on who is and is not picked in the end. Or you could just watch for the always entertaining "villains." Here's what else is airing on midseason 2019 TV.

Gina Carbone

Gina grew up in Massachusetts and California in her own version of The Parent Trap. She went to three different middle schools, four high schools, and three universities -- including half a year in Perth, Western Australia. She currently lives in a small town in Maine, the kind Stephen King regularly sets terrible things in, so this may be the last you hear from her.
